Louisiana State Police Troop I Spokesman Trooper Thomas Gossen says that a pedestrian was struck and killed in St. Landry Parish last night, and three hours later a bicyclist was struck and killed in Iberia Parish.

In the first crash that happened at around 6 o'clock Tuesday evening, Gossen says a woman, 29-year-old Jakiera Green was struck and killed.

Gossen says Green was standing near the intersection of Doucet Road and U.S. Highway 71 when a driver hit the woman near the northbound lane of the highway.

Investigators believe the car could be a Lincoln Town Car that is an older model and might be green. They say it will likely have damage to the right side front of the vehicle including damage to the hood.

A second person was killed at around 9 o'clock last night in Iberia Parish, when a driver changed lanes in a no passing zone and struck 32-year-old Donald Henry of New Iberia.

There were no lights on the bicycle and no lights on that part of Highway 182 near Jeanerette High School.

In addition, Henry was wearing dark clothing.

Gossen says that 19-year-old Luke Cormier had no alcohol in his system, but he was cited for passing in a no passing zone.
