Pedestrian Dies In Evangeline Parish Crash

A pedestrian is dead after getting hit by a truck on La. Highway 13 early Friday morning in Evangeline Parish.

La. State Police spokesperson Trooper Brooks David says 55-year-old Terry Trumps of Reddell was walking in the southbound lane of La Highway 13 before 6 am when 53-year-old Joseph Deshotel of Mamou ran into Trumps, who was pronounced dead on the scene. David says it was still dark at the time of the crash and Trumps was wearing dark clothing. Deshotel was wearing a seat belt, was unhurt and was not impaired at the time of the crash.

Authorities are still investigating.
