Pedestrian Killed in Hit and Run in Lafayette

Lafayette Police have identified the man who was killed during the apparent hit-and-run as Brandon Beckwith of Lafayette. Police are still investigating.

Friday: 2:00 p.m.

It was 2:20 this morning when Lafayette Police were called to the 4500 block of Johnston Street, near Office Depot.  A 33-year old victim was found lying on the street and police noted that his injuries were consistent with those received when someone is hit by a vehicle.  The victim, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle involved fled the scene and no witnesses have yet been found.  As the investigation continues, police are asking that anyone with information about the crash to give them a call at the Lafayette Police Department or Crimestoppers at 232-TIPS.
