LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — A Louisiana man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole in the shooting death of a Marine during a 2009 party in Lake Charles.

The American Press reports (http://bit.ly/OyGllr) that Bryce Perkins was sentenced for second-degree murder this past week in the death of Daniel Gueringer, a Marine home on leave.

Perkins was convicted in February 2011, but in April of that year a judge reduced the charge to manslaughter and sentenced Perkins to 30 years. Prosecutors appealed and the second-degree murder verdict was reinstated by the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal in March.
