A man escaped major injury when his small plane went down in Lafayette.

Deputies say the pilot of the plane made an emergency landing in a field near the Oakbourne Country Club off East Simcoe Street. Responding officers found the plane upside-down. They say the pilot was responsive, and he was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Deputies say they are now waiting for officials from the F-A-A and the National Transportation Safety Board.
