Planned Sexual Encounter With Minor Leads To 10 Year Prison Term

U.S. District Judge Elizabeth Foote today sentenced 67 year old Elton Ray Jones of Zavalla, Texas to 10 years in prison for contacting a person he thought was a 14 year old girl in order to make sexual contact.

Jones was found guilty after a two day trial in March of this year. Evidence and testimony indicated that Jones made contact with and had online chats with a law enforcement officer posing as a 14 year old girl. During those chats a sexual encounter was planned for October 17, 2012 in Lafayette. On arrival Jones was arrested.

In addition to the 10 year jail sentence Jones will serve 5 years of supervised release.
