Police In Iberia Parish Investigating Their First Shooting of 2012

It's a brand new year, and police in Iberia Parish are already investigating their first shooting. Deputies there say they responded to reports of a shooting in New Iberia.

When officers arrived, they found a 27-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released. After a brief investigation, police say they arrested 19-year-old Jarvis Tessier. He has been booked on charges of second degree battery. Police believe others were involved in the shooting, and the case remains under investigation.
