Lafayette Police are investigating 7-armed robberies that occurred over the course of the weekend.  On December 17, 2010, at approximately 8:00 pm, a 21-year-old male victim drove to the 100 block of Walker Road to sell an I-Phone.  When the victim met with the suspect, the suspect produced a handgun and robbed the victim of his I-Phone.  The suspect fled the area on foot and the victim was not injured during the robbery.  On December 18, 2010, at approximately 7:00 pm, Lafayette Police responded to the convenience store located at 120 E. Pont Des Mouton Road regarding an armed robbery.  The clerk advised police that the suspect, a black male, entered the store with a handgun and demanded the money from the register.  During the course of the robbery a customer entered the store and the suspect hid behind the counter.  When the costumer departed, the suspect took an undisclosed amount of money from the clerk and fled the area on foot.  The clerk was not injured during the incident.  At approximately 8:30 pm, Lafayette Police responded to an armed robbery in the 200 block of Sixth Street.  The victim advised that he was walking in the area when an unknown person struck him with a blunt object, knocking him unconscious.  When the victim regained consciousness, he discovered his wallet and other personal belongings missing.  The victim, a 29-year-old male, was transported to an area hospital and treated for his injuries.  At approximately 8:35 pm, Lafayette Police responded to a crash in the 100 block of Rubria involving a taxicab.  The victim reported that he picked up a fare in the 100 block of Clara Street. While the victim was driving to the destination, one of the passengers placed an object around the victim’s neck and demanded the money.  This caused the victim to wreck into a structure in the 100 block of Rubria.  The victim ran to an area convenience store and contacted police.  Police arrested three suspect involved in the attempted robbery.  A 16-year-old male juvenile of Lafayette was arrested and charged with Simple Robbery.  Kala George (18) and Jassity George (20) of Lafayette were both arrested and charged with Simple Robbery and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile.  A fourth suspect remains at large and the case remains under investigation. On December 19, 2010, at approximately 12:45 am, Lafayette Police responded to the 800 block of East Simcoe Street regarding an armed robbery.  The suspect approached the victim from behind and demanded the victim lay on the ground at gunpoint.  While the victim was on the ground the suspect remove his wallet, car keys and a cell phone from his pockets.  The suspect then fled the area on foot.  The victim, a 30-year-old male of Lafayette, was not injured during the robbery. At approximately 3:30 am, Lafayette Police responded to the 100 block of Rue De Jean regarding an armed robbery.  The victim, a 31-year-old male of Sulphur, was stopped in his vehicle at the intersection of Kaliste Saloom Road and Rue De Jean.  He was attempting to locate a food restaurant when two black males approached his vehicle.  One of the suspects’s opened the door to the victim’s vehicle and produced a handgun. The suspects stole the victim I-Phone and wallet from his pockets.  The suspect with the handgun then struck the victim in the head with the gun, took the car keys from the ignition and threw the keys.    The suspects were last seen running towards Pinhook Road.  The first suspect was described as a black male, approximately 5’6”, 160lbs, with a dark complexion and mustache.  The second suspect was a black male with a deep voice.  The victim received minor injuries. On December 20, 2010, at approximately 1:45 am, Lafayette Police responded to the 1500 block of Louisiana Avenue regarding an armed robbery.  The victim advised officers that he was exiting his vehicle when two unknown suspects wearing mask approached him and demanded his car keys.  When the victim refused, the suspects produced a handgun and struck the victim in the facial area.  The suspects then rummaged through the victim’s vehicle and fled the area on foot.  The victim, a 20-year-old male of Lafayette, was transported to an area hospital and treated for his injuries. Lafayette Police Investigators are currently investigating as to whether any of the armed robberies are related.  Investigators are asking anyone with information about any of the armed robberies to contact the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
