Police: Man Allegedly Tried To Get Drugs To Inmate

RICHWOOD, La. (AP) — Richwood police accuse a Marrero man of trying to slip marijuana to an inmate in the Richwood jail.

The News-Star (http://tnsne.ws/SbqX2x ) reports that 36-year-old Davion Matthews was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on Saturday on charges of possessing marijuana and bringing contraband into a penal facility.

An arrest affidavit says a guard at Richwood Correctional Center called police after allegedly seeing Matthews slide something under a cell door. It says police searched the cell and found a bag of suspected marijuana.

Bond was $750 on the marijuana charge.
