Update: Two of the three suspects in the Saturday shooting in the 200 block of South Sterling Street in Lafayette have been arrested.

Lafayette Police say 18-year-old Gene Celestine and 20-year-old Cordero Bradley, both of Lafayette, are now behind bars. Celestine faces two counts of Principal to Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Unauthorized Entry into an Inhabited Dwelling and Resisting an Officer, while Bradley faces the same Unauthorized Entry charge. Investigators continue to try to identify the third suspect involved.

Meanwhile, Celestine faces a charge of Attempted 1st Degree Murder in an unrelated case, in which he is accused of helping two other male suspects kidnap someone, rob that person, then allegedly shot the victim himself.

Update: 18-year-old Derrick Williams and 18-year-old Gene Celestine, both of Lafayette, are accused in the shooting of two other 18-year-olds from Lafayette over the weekend.

Williams is wanted for 2 counts of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and Celestine is wanted for 2 counts of Principal to Attempted 2nd Degree Murder.

Saturday afternoon Lafayette Police were called out to the 800 block of South Sterling Street after a shooting was reported.

Police say when they arrived they found two 18-year-old victims who had been shot.

The victims told police they were visiting a person in that area when the two suspects showed up and there was a disturbance between all four of them.

The victims told police that at some point a suspect pulled out a gun and started firing.

One victim was shot in the calf while the other victim was shot in the ankle.

Police say both suspects had already run away by the time they got to the scene.

Detectives are asking anyone who might have information about the shooting to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
