Many people might be popping the cork on champagne bottles tonight or kicking back with a bottle of suds.  The one thing that Colonel John LeBlanc wants to remind people about, is that you will be arrested if you drive impaired.

Leblanc, the Executive Director of the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, says state police, sheriff's deputies and police will all be out in full force tonight to remove any impaired drivers off of our roadways.

Leblanc says additional grant money from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission will be used to pay for extra officers and overtime so that more officers will be patrolling streets across the state tonight.

Leblanc says another good piece of advise for people to have a safe time while celebrating is to designate a driver, and to make sure that everyone in your vehicle is wearing a seatbelt.
