The military tribunal for the terrorists who planned the 9/11 attack began at Guantanamo in Cuba this weekend.  In an event that should have taken two hours maximum the proceedings went on for 13 hours.  Aside from opening arguments, meal and prayer breaks took up a majority of the time.  In addition to these disruptions Cheryl Bormann, counsel for defendant Walid bin Attash called for all women in the court room to wear hijabs, traditional Muslim dress for women, as she did.

Asked why she requested other women do the same, Bormann said, "When you're on trial for your life, you need to be focused."

It seems her clients were focused enough to plan and carry out a plot to kill thousands of American lives without regard for our beliefs.  Bormann went on to say "If because of someone's religious beliefs, they can't focus when somebody in the courtroom is dressed in a particular way, I feel it is incumbent upon myself as a counsel to point that out and ask for some consideration from the prosecution," she said. "Suffice to say it was distracting to members of the accused."

Is this woman nuts?  ( Rhetorical question )    I could care less if they are offended.  Al Qaeda terrorists are killing Americans as well as fellow Muslims without regard to religious or political beliefs.  These terrorists were captured and brought to trial by Americans.  If they have a problem with how we conduct ourselves in court or anywhere else let them take it up with Allah in the afterlife.
