Political Watchdog Group Names Vitter To Corrupt List
Senator David Vitter has been named one of the most corrupt members of Congress. So says the political watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW). In their report, they call him out for using taxpayer money to help a staffer tend to criminal court matters. That staffer, Brent Furer, was arrested last year for attacking his ex-girlfriend with a knife. Furer also had an open warrant for his arrest in Baton Rouge on a drunk driving charge and had other brushes with the law over the years. CREW also accuses Vitter of blatantly trying to bribe the Secretary of the Interior to win more deepwater drilling permits.
