Late Pope John Paul II Cleared For Sainthood

Beloved former Pope John Paul II will soon be known as Saint John Paul II.

Pope Francis has cleared Pope John Paul II sainthood after approving a miracle attributed to the late pope's intercession. The miracle involved the healing of an ill person after meeting the late pope.

The Vatican says the canonization ceremony is expected to take place sometime before the end of the year.

Pope John Paul II was put on the fast track for sainthood following his death in 2005 at the age of 84.
