KATC is reporting that Lafayette City Marshal Brian Pope has had his probation revoked, and he was ordered to spend thirty days in the Lafayette jail.

The case stems from Pope's failure to turn over documents during a public records request by the now defunct "Independent" weekly paper.

Now since he already served seven days on house arrest, KATC reports he will have to serve twenty-three days in jail.

If he gets released on good behavior, he could potentially be out of jail sooner.

The whole situation started, prosecutors say, when Pope was trying to help one of the candidates in the 2015 Lafayette Parish Sheriff's race and even held a press conference to attack Mark Garber.
