Port Barre Town Auditor Arrested After Money Turns Up Missing
The auditor for the town of Port Barre has been arrested on allegations she took tens of thousands of dollars from the town's water utilities accounts.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says an investigation was started after it was determined between $35,000 and $55,000 were missing from recently audited accounts. Guidroz says multiple meter deposit/receipt books and the work order registry log were also missing.
Jimmie Castille was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on two counts of malfeasance in office and three counts of theft of funds, Guidroz says.
