On Monday in Lafayette, police started investigating an attempted kidnapping around 3:30 in the afternoon. The girl got away. A similar case happened happened about 50 minutes later according to Acadia Parish authorities.

Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melanco says a 10-year-old little girl told them that while she was sitting in a tree in the 900 block of North Richfield Road near Scott when a man came up.

She says the man was driving a white truck, he got out, walked through the yard, and he tried to pull her out of the tree.

The little girl says it was a white man with a rough voice in his 30's with dair hair parted on the side, and he had a goatee. He had on black lace up boots with thick soles. The girl was not hurt.

In Monday's case the 11-year-old girl was walking near a dumpster in the 300 block of Manchester Circle around 3:30 in the afternoon when a white man jumped out of green Jeep Wrangler and grabbed her.

She was able to run away to get help.

The girl says the Jeep Wrangler had big tires and chrome rims.

The little girl says the white man was wearing a black mask.
