A convicted drug dealer from Lafayette has now begun his prison sentence.

George Celestine pled guilty in March of 2009 after being indicted for his role in a drug trafficking group that operated here in Lafayette. Celestine was sentenced to ten years in prison with five years of probation for organizing, leading, managing and supervising the group. The group sold powder cocaine in the Madeline, Sterling and Poplar Street areas of the city.

Part of that group included his nephews, Sidney Gallien of Scott, Travis Gallien of Lafayette and Telly Gallien of Villarica, Georgia. Travis and Telly were sentenced last week to one day in jail and five years of probation. Sidney is scheduled to be sentenced on April 2nd.
