Private Sector is Doing Fine According to Obama

In a press conference today, President Obama proclaimed that the private sector is doing fine and the real problem with the economy has to do with government.  He wants Republicans to join with him to help states that are having trouble.  Is this right?  Is this something where the differences of opinion are put aside?

Meanwhile, Mitt Romney has said that the remarks make it clear that President Obama is out of touch.
