Anyone who has listened to the morning show for any length of time knows that I lost my mother to breast cancer when I was 15.

Breast cancer (and cancer in general) is a horrible disease, and its demise can't come soon enough. That's why I'm urging you to help in the fight against breast cancer by registering for the Komen Acadiana Race for the Cure.

Don't worry--you won't have to do it yourself. If you're a fan of KPEL, then you can join Bernie and myself. We've formed our own team: the KPEL Tortoises. It doesn't matter if you run or walk (we'll be walking); all that matters is that you finish, and you'll be helping out a great cause at the same time.

Some things to know about Komen Acadiana: the money they raise stays right here in Acadiana. That money is used to provide services, such as transportation to and from treatments, mammograms, and even such self-esteem boosting items like a wig for someone who is undergoing chemotherapy treatments.

I'm tired of seeing this disease plague so many of our loved ones. So on March 21, get out of your house and run/walk for a great cause.
