Head Ragin' Cajun Football Coach Mark Hudspeth announced the dismissal of receiver C.J. Bates and defensive lineman Marquis White on Tuesday.

Both contributed last season on different sides of the ball. Bates played in every game and hauled in twelve passes on offense, while White registered 16 tackles in nine games. With the absence of Justin Hamilton and Christian Ringo in the middle of the D-line, the Cajuns could have used all the beef possible on their depth chart. Coach Hud was direct with his message and added that he won't provide any further comments on the matter.

“C.J. and Marquis are no longer members of our football team,” Hudspeth said. “We felt it was in the best interest of our program to part ways. We wish them well in their future endeavors.”

Cuts and dismissals are a necessary part of any athletic program, but that doesn't make the occurrences any less surprising and unfortunate.
