Louisiana Ragin' Cajun All-American pitcher Gunner Leger underwent an operation on his elbow, according to head coach Tony Robichaux. His playing status next season is TBD.

"After the conclusion of the 2017 season, Gunner had a procedure performed on his elbow and is currently undergoing rehabilitation," said Robichaux in a University press release. "He will continue to rehabilitate through the fall and through the early part of 2018. We will then determine his status to pitch for the 2018 season.”

Leger announced last month he would return to the Cajuns for his senior season. He made the decision after informing interested MLB teams who inquired about drafted him in rounds 7 and 8, as teams were unwilling to meet a salary number that Leger was willing to accept and enter the draft.

Despite informing teams he would return, the Miami Marlins still drafted him in the 26th round. Leger told them thanks, but he was adamant about his decision to return to school.
