The University of Louisiana Board of Supervisors approves U-L-L's request to move forward with the school's 115-million dollar athletic facilities master plan.  Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns athletic department officially announced their master plan for athletic facilities in March.

The plan includes $115 million in improvements, including major upgrades to Cajun Field and M.L. Tigue Moore Field.

The major project will be spread out into three phases (tiers). The first tier (Tier 1a) is underway, with a shovel set to hit the ground this summer.

Tier 1a includes upgrades to the track and soccer facility, as it does not meet current Title IX requirements.

The other phase of tier 1a includes expanded South End seating at Cajun field (pictured), as well as amenity expansion.

The last phase of tier 1a includes a new athletic practice facility that will include the home football locker room, strength training, central equipment, central athletic training, coaches office, and a replacement of the indoor turf currently being used in the Leon Moncla Indoor Practice Facility.

Tier 1b includes the renovation and expansion of M.L. "Tigue" Moore field (pictured), as well as the remaining improvements to Cajun Field, which will include a sports plaza.

The plaza (pictured) will be located where the current Cox Communications Athletic Center (which will eventually be torn down after the new athletic practice facility is built) is. It will be a gathering point for student athletes, students, fans, and anyone who loves the culture that is Ragin' Cajuns athletics. It will be a gathering point for many activities. Tier 2, the final tier of the master plan, includes improvements to the Student Athlete Academic Center, major improvements to Earl K. Long Gym, improvements to the Culotta Tennis Center, a golf facility, and a new basketball practice facility that will be built on the southwest corner of Cajundome Blvd. and Reinhardt.
