On Thursday the Sun Belt Conference and the AutoNation Cure Bowl which benefits the Breast Cancer Research Foundation are getting together for a conference-wide Coaches for a Cure initiative during the 2018 football season.

The Ragin' Cajuns will be a part of three Sun Belt Pink Saturday games, which will occur at Cajun Field on October 13th vs. New Mexico State. In addition, UL's games that are on the road during the month of October at Texas State (Oct. 6) and Appalachian State (Oct. 20) will also be Pink Games.

Sun Belt Commissioner Karl Benson said, "The Sun Belt has enjoyed a great relationship with the AutoNation Cure Bowl and working together on this initiative is one more example of our conference and institutions uniting as one to raise awareness for a cause that means so much to so many," It's really a great cause for not just the Cajuns but all of the Sun Belt schools that are getting involved.

Throughout the month of October, the 10 Sun Belt football-playing schools will be participating in Pink Saturdays and showing off the fresh new Sun Belt Kicks Cancer kicking nets. The Cure Bowl will also be providing some swagger for the teams in, pink shoelaces, armbands, wristbands and towels for coaching staffs to wear for each institution's designated game(s).

Alan Gooch, the Executive Director of the AutoNation Cure Bowl commented on the initiative, "We appreciate the Sun Belt schools coming together for our Coaches for a Cure initiative. The exposure from the Pink Saturdays and Sun Belt Kick Cancer kicking nets will further our efforts to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation with hopes of finding a cure. It is by working together like this that we can tackle the fight to beat cancer."
