This past Sunday, Toby Blisette, assistant softball coach for New Iberia youth team The Dugout Dabbers brought his team to watch the Cajuns softball team take on Appalachian State. He figured he'd try to get the p.a. announcer to hopefully welcome his 11 to 13-year-old players, but what the Cajuns did for his team proves what a class act the organization is.

After making his request to the announcer, Blisette says all of a sudden Stephanie Lotief approached him and asked "You have your team here? Would you guys like to join us on the field for the National Anthem?"

Obviously, Blisette said yes, and his team got to be on the field with the Cajuns for the National Anthem, making a memory that will surely last a lifetime for these young players.

Talk about creating a culture of excellence! If any of these young girls grow up to get to play softball at the collegiate level, who do you think their first choice is going to be? The announcer could have just said the team's name over the p.a. and that would have been exciting enough for these kids. Unsolicited, the entire Cajuns softball organization went above and beyond for these young girls, and I'm writing about it because I think people should know.

Well done Cajuns, not that we've ever expected anything less from you.
