Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns won their 4th straight game Tuesday night, defeating the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 37-20 in a Sun Belt Conference matchup.

The Cajun offense couldn't muster many yards in the first half, finding themselves down 10-0 in the second quarter. WKU had the ball at the UL 1 yard line, facing a 4th and goal. Topper head coach Bobby Petrino elected to go for it, and Louisiana cornerback Al Riles made the play of the game, picking off Brandon Doughty's pass and returning it 99 yards for a touchdown.

On the ensuing drive, the Cajun defense continued to rack up highlights. Linebacker Justin Anderson stripped WKU tight end Mitchell Henry, picked up the ball, and returned it to the Western Kentucky 35 yard line. Seven plays later, UL scored their first offensive touchdown of the night on a one yard Alonzo Harris touchdown.

The score was 13-13 at the half, with the Cajuns struggling on offense. 81 total yards (66 rushing, 25 passing) didn't look pretty on the stat sheet after two quarters, but a 13-13 tie had the Cajuns feeling confident that they could get clicking.

Louisiana dominated the third and fourth quarters, focusing on their ground game. UL rushed for 173 yards in the second half, including 2 rushing touchdowns (Broadway, Harris).

Harris led all Louisiana rushers with 115 yards on 22 carries and 2 touchdowns. Elijah McGuire chipped in 71 yards on 9 rushes.

Broadway didn't throw much, completing only 5 passes on 12 attempts. He did finish with one touchdown passing, hooking up with tight end Jacob Maxwell on a 24 yard score in the 4th quarter, giving the Cajuns a sizable 30-13 lead midway through the 4th quarter.

In the end, it was the Cajun defense that was the big story. Justin Anderson forced another fumble on Henry in the 4th quarter, recovering it himself. Anderson's stat line of 16 tackles, 11 solo, 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries are proof that he was the best player on the field Tuesday night.

"Defensively we set the tone," said a happy UL coach Mark Hudspeth after the win. "The way our offense imposed their will on their defensive line in the second half was the difference in the game."

The win keeps the Cajuns atop the Sun Belt Conference standings with a 2-0 conference record, and 4-2 overall. Next up, another Tuesday road game in conference against Arkansas State next week. The Red Wolves are second in the SBC with a 1-0 conference record. A win by Louisiana next week, and they'll be in the drivers seat for a Sun Belt conference championship.
