Rayne Man Arrested After Several Weekend Thefts In Mire

The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested 21-year-old Bryson Joseph Meche of the 600 block of Section Street in Rayne with possession of stolen property.

Around 1 o'clock Wednesday morning, a deputy says he saw Meche attempted to load a four wheeler into the back of a pick up truck.  The Sheriff's Office had gotten a call about four wheelers being ridden on North Riceland Road.

The deputy says when Meche saw him, he took off, but Meche was captured a short time later.

Sheriff Wayne Melancon says there have been several thefts on weekends in the Mire community.

The four wheeler that Meche was trying to load onto his truck was reported stolen Sunday from a home onVirgina Road.  Deputies also found a dirt bike that was reported stolen from a house on Grand Prairie Highway.

Sheriff Melancon says his office got more than ten calls about thefts this past weekend from Mire.
