A Rayne man has been booked in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for thirteen counts of selling shrimp without a retail seafood license according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

LDWF agents say 36-year-old Shannon J Roche has also been arrested for three counts of theft by fraudulent sales and failing to maintain records.

Agents say they first learned about Roche's alleged illegal actions after seeing a number of posted photos of him on social media.

While investigating, agents say they found out that Roche allegedly purchased shrimp for a wholesaler and then resold them to his buyers on thirteen different occasions.  They say he then made three transactions to buyers who did not recieve the correct amount of shrimp that they bought.  Agents say he didn't bother to keep up the necessary required documentaion either.

Selling shrimp without a retail seafood license brings a $250 to $500 fine and up to 90 days in jail, while failing to maintain your records brings up to a $250 to $500 fine and up to 90 days in jail.
