The City of Rayne Police Department has arrested Chester Credeur of 808 West Perrodin Street for aggravated rape.

Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly says the victim in this case suffers from a mental deficiency that prohibited her from consenting to sexual behavior.

Chief Stelly says that Credeur was taken into custody without incident.

Aggravated rape carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison if Credeur is convicted of the charges.
