RAYNE, La. (KPEL) -- A Rayne man is facing drug and firearms charges after police searched his home in reference to a robbery investigation.

According to Richard Gray with the Rayne Police Department, police executed a search warrant on the Perrodin Street home and found marijuana, synthetic marijuana, and several weapons and firearms.

The home is across the street from Rayne Catholic Elementary School, Gray said.

Police arrested and charged 21-year-old Jason Trudel with simple possession of marijuana, illegal possession of a firearm within the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, and second degree battery, Gray said.

Trudel was booked into the Rayne Police Department Jail and will be transported to the Acadia Parish Jail shortly, Gray said.
