The re-entry phase for residents in New Iberia who were forced to evacuate their homes
after the explosion and fire at the Multi-chem plant has been underway since this morning according to Louisiana State Police. Here's Trooper Stephen Hammons with more information for those still looking to re-enter:

Trooper Hammons also says all roadways in the one-mile evacuation area with the exception of Admiral Doyle in front of Multi-Chem have been opened. Admiral Doyle between Fox Road and Vortex Road is expected to remain closed for several weeks while crews work to clean up the material on site. If you use Admiral Doyle in the affected area, State Police say you need to use an alternate route, and plan for delays.

The New Iberia landfill reopened today as well.

Also, for local residents who've been displaced or need assistance because of the fire, a claim facility has opened up  Francis Romero Memorial Facility on 6301 Coteau Road, just off Highway 88 in New Iberia. It'll be open from 7 am till 7 pm until further notice.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
