BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Recall petitions are targeting two St. Tammany Parish lawmakers who are allies of Gov. Bobby Jindal.

The Advocate reports the secretary of state's office said Wednesday that recall paperwork had been filed against Reps. Kevin Pearson and Greg Cromer, both Slidell Republicans.

Pearson is the governor's leader in the House on a state employee retirement overhaul. Cromer had been a state leader in the American Legislative Exchange Council, which supports the type of education law changes that Jindal pushed through the Legislature earlier this session.

The petitions against Pearson and Cromer join recall efforts by two Lake Charles teachers seeking to unseat Jindal and House Speaker Chuck Kleckley.

To force a recall election, organizers must get signatures from one-third of registered voters in a district within 180 days.
