The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Lafayette will officially get underway tomorrow evening.  Event volunteers and participant will gather at the Crowne Plaza for a kickoff rally to launch their fundraising efforts for the year. Today Jesse Guidry the American Cancer Representative for the Mid-South Region visited 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie'  and said the rally will feature speakers from the community who have benefited from the funds raised at Relay For Life and will honor cancer survivors. There also will be an opportunity to register a team for the overnight event to be held on Saturday, May 4 from 6pm-6am.

Relay For Life began in 1985 with one man and raised $27,000 for the American Cancer Society. Each year, Relay For Life takes place in 5,200 communities in the United States and 20 other countries to raise funds to support the Society’s mission of saving lives by helping people stay well, by helping people get well, by finding cures and by fighting back.
