Single-sex classes at an Acadiana school will end soon. The Vermillion Parish School Board settled with the ACLU today to end the controversial classes at Rene A. Rost Middle School. The ACLU says the segregated classes were illegal, but school officials say the program was intended to improve student behavior and performance. Superintendent Randy Schexnayder denies buckling under pressure. He says not enough parents wanted to enroll their kids in the classes, and he says the program could be revived if interest is shown again.
