NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The New Orleans Saints and Pelicans have announced plans to renovate the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and the Smoothie King Center.

Officials said in a press release Tuesday that an agreement has been reached among the two teams, the Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District, and SMG, which manages the Superdome and King Center, for renovations to modernize the properties.

The estimated cost for the renovations is $40 million, most of which will be funded by Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson, who has made a $25 million commitment to the project.

The multi-million dollar project will focus on improving the fan experience. Some upgrades include state-of-the-art LED video boards and enhanced LED lighting and audio systems.

Renovations to both structures will begin immediately and are expected to be completed for fall 2016.
