MANSFIELD, La. (AP) — The Mansfield State Historic Site is open again now that repairs are done.

The Times reports (http://bit.ly/IM5VNu ) that work inside the museum included adding new light fixtures and flooring.

A portion of the trail system on the site's ground though remains closed and is expected to stay closed until midsummer. Officials say heavy underbrush must be cleared still.

Mansfield State Historic Site is the scene of the 1864 Battle of Mansfield during the Civil War that involved nearly 30,000 troops.

The park includes a portion of the Mansfield battlefield, a walking trail and monuments. There are plans to add new exhibits with artifacts, letters and uniforms.
