Repeal Of LA State Income Tax
A bill that would repeal state income taxes passed in the state Senate Finance Committee. The proposal by Livonia Senator Rob Marionneaux would phase out corporate and personal income taxes over 10 years. Marionneaux says if Louisiana got rid of hundreds of tax credits, it would be able to afford to repeal income taxes. The Jindal Administration has said its not taking the proposal seriously because
it lacks a plan for offsetting the revenue loss. New Orleans Senator Karen Peterson expressed frustration that no one from the governor's office was at the committee meeting to provide testimony on the bill.
