New Orleans Saints rookie Sheldon Rankins carries large expectations after the team selected him with their first round pick, 12th overall.

After practicing with the 1st unit during training camp, Rankins appeared to be a shoe-in for a big role this season.

As first reported by Jeff Duncan of The Times-Picayune, Rankins was injured during a goal-line drill at camp today. He had to be carted off the field.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is reporting Rankins suffered a broken fibula. He will undergo more tests.

Per ESPN, he will miss 6-8 weeks.

The 22-year old defensive tackle out of Louisville has been impressive in camp, intercepting a Tom Brady pass during a joint practice with the Patriots last week.
