Defensive tackle John Jenkins has been cut by the New Orleans Saints, according to multiple media report. The news was first reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Jenkins was a third round draft pick in 2013 out of Georgia, setting the bar for his career high after his rookie season when he started and played well.

Jenkins plays never matched that of his rookie season, though he saw time as a starter in 2015 in a dozen games.

With first round rookie Sheldon Rankins on the active roster after spending the first half of the season on IR following a fibula injury in training camp, Jenkins began expendable.

He was a healthy inactive for Sunday's win at San Francisco.

On the season, Jenkins had 10 tackles. He is now a free agent.
