The New Orleans Saints will sign former New York Jets linebacker Demario Davis to a 3 year, $24 million contract, with $18 million guaranteed, according to a report from ESPN reporter Dianna Russini.

Davis, a 6 year veteran out of Arkansas State, spent his first 4 seasons with the New York Jets, then one year with the Cleveland Browns, before returning to the Jets last season.

A starting linebacker since the end of his rookie year, Davis brings speed to the edge of the Saints defense. He can play inside or outside linebacker.

In last season's week 7 game versus the Miami Dolphins, Davis sacked quarterback Jay Cutler in only 2.09 seconds.

He's coming off a 5 sack, 135 tackle season in New York, the best statistical season of the 29 year old's career.
