With injuries to the Saints offensive line, the team surprisingly waived rookie running back Boston Scott today, according to Nick Underhill of The Advocate.

If no team puts in a waiver on Scott over the next 24 hours, New Orleans will likely attempt to add him to their practice squad.

Scott, a 6th round pick out of Louisiana Tech, had an impressive training camp and preseason.

By waiving him, the Saints only have two running backs, Alvin Kamara and Mike Gillislee, on the roster entering Sunday's season opener versus Tampa Bay. Gillislee signed with the Saints a few days ago.

Taking Scott's roster spot is offensive lineman Michael Ola, who was cut by the Saints on Saturday when all teams were required to trim their roster to 53 players.

Starting left guard Andrus Peat left Thursday's preseason game with an undisclosed injury, and could be a question mark heading into game 1.
