It's been since February 25 that evacuees have been displaced after a Black Creek Drilling well blew out, but they can finally got to go back home Thusday.

La. State Police Trooper Stephen Hammons says the well near Mowata in Acadia Parish was capped around noon Thursday, and the people affected met with DEQ personnel, who accompanied them to their homes, to check the air quality.

12 homes in that area were evacuated because of the blowout. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

This also means the roadways in the area, Louisiana Highway 13 south of Eunice, Highway 13 at Louisiana Highway 3124 and Highway 13 at Louisiana Highway 368 are now open as well.
