Colonel Rob Maness (USAF, Ret.) visited 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie' today to announce his candidacy against Senator Mary Landrieu in the 2014 elections.  Maness, a 32 year veteran of the US Air Force stated the reasoning behind his campaign this way,

I've served in the military for 32 years.  While serving in the Armed Forces we all take an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States...while behind us a lot of us don't feel the political class was doing their job because they take the same oath.

When asked about his thoughts on gun control Maness replied,

I'm an NRA 'Life Member' and I believe what the Constitution says in the 2nd Amendment that those rights shall not be infringed and I won't support any legislation that would reduce any of those rights more than they already have been over the years.

We asked Maness how he felt about immigration reform and border security and he said,
Immigration reform is extremely important to Louisiana because it costs American citizen's jobs.   We can't begin to consider debating immigration reform unless we secure the border first.  Senator Landrieu supports amnesty and she supports chain migration and giving illegal immigrants benefits like welfare and in-state tuition discounts.  You know there are military dependent children around the country that don't get opportunities to get in-state tuition discounts in a lot of states....We tried amnesty before back in the 80's and it didn't work then and it won't work now.
