Former Governor Buddy Roemer officially announced his candidacy for president today in New Hampshire. Roemer will be pursuing the Republican nomination. Roemer has said he is seeking campaign contributions of no more than $100 per person. He's decided to move to New Hampshire, which has one of the nation's first primaries, to garner favor with the voters in that state. Roemer says he believes the nation is in critical need of change.

LSU Political Science Professor Robert Hogan believes Roemer has a steep hill to climb mainly due to lack of name recognition. He says, however, Roemer's move to New Hampshire is a good one. Hogan says while the $100 per voter contribution ploy won't bring in a lot of cash flow for a presidential campaign to start, it is a way Roemer is standing out from the crowd.
