MONROE, La. (AP) — Monroe police have arrested a 52-year-old Ruston man on allegations he stole nearly a half ton of metal.

The News-Star reports Kevin Wills was booked Wednesday into Ouachita Correctional Center on a theft charge.

According to an arrest affidavit, Wills removed 580 pounds of galvanized angle iron and 360 pounds of tin from a construction site at the Monroe Regional Airport.

The report stated Wills then took the metal to a local scrap yard and sold it for $46.40. Wills told police he used a forklift to load the iron into a truck and took it to the yard.

The stolen metal was valued at $2,000.

It was unclear whether Wills has an attorney.
