New Orleans Saints fullback Austin Johnson is officially done for the season, being placed on injured reserve today due to a knee injury.

Johnson suffered the injury nine days ago in a win over the Green Bay Packers.

Johnson was the number one fullback the first 7 games of the season. Fullback Erik Lorig was signed in the offseason, and expected to be the starter for 2014. However, Lorig suffered a leg injury in training camp, missing the first 6 games of the year with an injury. He'll assume the top spot on the depth chart at fullback with Johnson on IR.

Replacing Johnson on the 53 man roster is offensive tackle Nick Becton. New Orleans signed Becton from the New York Giants practice squad.

Becton signed with the San Diego Chargers last season as an undrafted rookie free, spending half the year on their active roster, and the other half on San Diego's practice squad.

Saints starting right tackle Zach Strief suffered a back injury in the win over Carolina.

New Orleans practices tomorrow, and will release their first injury report of the week.

With only one healthy fullback on the roster in Lorig, the Saints officially signed FB Michael Zordich to the practice squad. After playing collegiately at Penn State, Zordich signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted rookie in 2013, but spent the entire season on injured reserve after tearing in ACL in training camp.
