Two other teams from the NFC South, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Carolina Panthers, also have interest in Ayers.

The 32-year old Ayers, who was released by the Buccaneers last Saturday, had only 2 sacks last season, but had a vey respectable 28 quarterback pressures, after accumulating 6.5 sacks in 2016.

After playing his college football at Tennessee, Ayers was selected by the Denver Broncos in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft.

A native of Jersey City, New Jersey, Ayers spent five seasons with the Broncos, before moving on to the New York Giants (2014-2015), and then to the Buccaneers.

The 6-foot-3, 275-pound Ayers has compiled 257 tackles, including 35 sacks, over his 9-year career.
