The New Orleans Saints have released their 50 year anniversary logo.

It will appear as a patch on their uniforms for each game in 2016, as well as be a permanent logo on the Mercedes-Benz Superdome playing field.

“Our 50th season is really a celebration of our fans as well and it is important to me that they play a major role in the season’s activities," said Saints owner Tom Benson in a statement released by the team.

50 years leaves many memories for fans young and old. My Mother was at the opening game in 1967 when John Gilliam scored on the first play in franchise history, a 94 yard kickoff return.

His touchdown was followed by years of many downs and a few ups, but it all came together in 2009 when the franchise captured their first Super Bowl championship.

I was at the game with my Mother.
