Five days ago, the New Orleans Saints signed veteran guard Orlando Franklin, hoping the former San Diego Charger and Denver Bronco would provide depth to a unit lacking healthy bodies at the beginning of training camp.

Today, Franklin was released.

After starting his career with Denver, Franklin signed a five year deal worth almost $40 million with San Diego in 2015, but only last two seasons after dealing with injuries and performance issues.

The starting guards in New Orleans are sewed up with Andrus Peat and Larry Warford.

Starting center Max Unger, starting left tackle Terron Armstead and often used reserve guard/center Senio Kelemete all remain on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list.
