The New Orleans Saints released Will Herring on Tuesday, after the linebacker spent two seasons with the team.

The 29-year old Herring spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks, before signing with the Saints, prior to the 2011 season.

Herring only started two games in two seasons for the Saints, while playing mostly on special teams, accumulating 22 tackles during that span, including 13 in 2012.

Herring' best season was in 2009, withe Seattle, when he recorded 38 tackles.

By relasing Herring, the Saints will save about $1.6 million in salary cap space.
